DENNIS BAYLOR FOR STATE SENATE |

Help Stop America's Most Extravagant Legislature ! |
Our Home in the Natural World |
|
I have lived in a forested area all my adult life, and am shocked by the extent and variety of species either in decline, or on the verge of extinction. The plant pictured here is a wild orchid, often called a lady-slipper which is on the endangered plant list. We are part of a natural world, and our fate is inexorably intertwined with nature.

Pennsylvania needs: 1) Energy conservation in the form of more weather-tight housing, and more energy efficient cars/appliances. 2) Drill to exploit the Marcellus Shale formation for Natural Gas, and provide tax incentives for individuals to convert their cars to run on CNG. 3) Preserve and expand Pennsylvania’s formerly strong industrial alternative energy infrastructure. (Solar, Wind) 4) Pilot cellulose to alcohol, and pyrolysis biodiesel projects. 5) To more fully exploit low-head hydro, and pumped hydro energy storage technologies. 6) We must re-regulate Pennsylvania’s electric utilities. |

Home Grown Solutions to Pa’s Energy Problems |
|
We Must Solve Pa’s Environmental Problems |
|
1) We must move our state toward a sustainable economy, one less based on wasting energy and natural resources for its prosperity.
2) We must return first-step control and decision making about environmental issues to local governmental entities, in other words repeal ACRE.
3) We must try to develop intra-state compacts so that we can control the flow of trash across our borders.
4) We must invest in bio-remediation strategies to control sludge and prevent it from being used in agriculture or ending up in landfills.
5) We must invest in new Gypsy Moth control strategies to save our forests.
6) Instead of leading the nation in the production of greenhouse gases we must start to lead the nation in greenhouse gas abatement. |
