Position Papers

Text Box: Harrisburg has got to wake up to the fact that the ‘gilded-age’ of state government is long past, and quit trying to hoodwink the public into believing that there is some less painful way to pay for the most extravagant state government in America.

TAX REFORM

The architecture of Pennsylvania’s government, is unchanged from the Civil War era. Many of today’s problems defy solution because of government constructs that were put in place more than a century ago. From a time when Pennsylvania was an oil exporter, and home to the wealthiest corporations on the planet.

CONSTITUTIONAL CONVENTION

Government waste is rampant in Harrisburg. State government needs new leadership, one prepared to shake off the culture of perks, postage, payraises, pensions and perpetual cost-of-living increases. One that will return state government to inside the boundaries of our state constitution.

JOBS

Text Box: I have lived in a forested area all my adult life, and am shocked by the extent and variety of species either in decline, or on the verge of extinction. The plant pictured here is a wild orchid, often called a lady-slipper which is on the endangered plant list. We are part of a natural world, and our fate is inexorably intertwined with nature.

EDUCATION

REDISTRICTING PENNSYLVANIA

Unless Pennsylvania starts to foster modern industry, with jobs that pay wages that employees can live on, the brain-drain and mass exodus of the state’s young people will continue unabated. Pennsylvania has the technological infrastructure in place to move us into industries relevant to the twenty-first century, but we need leadership.

Gerrymandering, combined with ballot access barriers,  have carved up the body politic in such a way that the duopoly has an absolute stranglehold on the system.

GOVERNMENT REFORM

The challenge that our schools must address, and excel at is to teach our children how to learn. If evolving technology has shown us anything it is the need, ability and willingness to have more than a career in a lifetime. An educational system that fails to prepare our students to be able to move between careers, will fail them.
